Hi, My name is Kaydee and I am a contemporary lifestyle portrait artist, currently working in Albertville, Alabama and the surrounding areas. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography from the University of Alabama. I am so blessed to know my life’s passion – I find happiness in working creatively, and photography allows me to learn and grow continually.
When I look at my own family photographs I am drawn to candid photographs more so than posed studio shots. Why is that? I think it’s because when you photograph children in their own homes, in their environment, where they are most comfortable, not only are you more likely to capture their personalities, but you are capturing real memories at the same time.
Kids aren’t comfortable in photography studios. They are dark and scary. Who knows what all kinds of monsters could be lurking in the shadows? The seat is so uncomfortable. Head turned this way, body turned the other. Now hold still.
How can we expect kids to “act naturally” in unnatural surroundings? Doesn’t it make more sense to bring the photographer into the child’s world instead? Then we can capture their childhood, not just their likeness.
Say, for example, your child won’t go anywhere around the house without that special toy, that blanket, your family pet—or in my case, a pillow I called, “The Kitty Kat pillow” and a stuffed mouse named “Hunka Munka.” Maybe your child spends most of his/her day in play clothes or pj’s or a bathing suit—or a birthday suit for that matter! Does your child especially love bath time or snack time? Hold onto that moment. Allow me to capture those one-of-a-kind memories you create daily with your child, so you can remember them.
My goal is simply this; I want to create a collection of portraits as unique as your child.
Thank you for your consideration,
